Shark Week kicked off on August 9th, and so far it hasn’t disappointed. Minus the fact that Sharknado hasn’t been on since 2018……I am only slightly bitter about this!
“Air Jaws: Ultimate Breach Off”, using decoys, drones and underwater cameras, researchers will return to one of the last hunting grounds for Air Jaws to “count the number of breaches and collect data”. There was an amazing breach, check out the image to the right! Mike Tyson made an appearance with “Tyson vs. Jaws: Rumble on the Reef”. Going head-to-head with one of the ocean’s top predators, including the black tip reef shark. And surprise, he was in the water with the Sharks! There was a moment he got scared, which was humorous for those of us watching at home.
“Abandoned Waters “, gave us a look at how due to the coronavirus, some of the biggest great white sharks have returned to their natural behaviors. This is giving researchers a chance to study great whites in a way like never before at Australia’s Neptune Islands. “Jaws Awakens” (took us to the waters of New Zealand in search of Fred (15 feet), the largest male great white shark in the world.
Last night it was the search for Big Moe in “Monster Under the Bridge”. Scientists believe that an 18-foot-long, one-ton great hammerhead named Big Moe lives under the Old Seven Mile Bridge (Florida).
Tonight “Air Jaws 2020” airs as Shark Week celebrates 20 years of flying sharks! Snoop Dog also appears on Shark Week with “Sharkadelic Summer”, he learns more about why Great White Sharks are living along America’s shores.
Shark Week wraps up on Sunday with “Naked and Afraid of Sharks 2”.
