Maddie Corinne does not just make country music – she literally eats, sleeps, breathes country. Whether she is writing her songs, bringing those songs to life in the studio, or working on a farm in small-town Ontario as her day job, she is surrounded by country. Her work at a family-owned farm has helped her lay down her roots, find home, and give live performances opportunities to local artists with the perfect outdoor country music venue.
With influences like Taylor, Jewel, Dolly, Maren and more – she has been working on her own music, as well as penning songs for other Canadian artists for the last few years. Zoning in as a strict lyricist for many years, Corinne is excited to jump into 2022 with a solo project of her own. Working with CMAO-nominated producer Shawn Moore, she is excited to finally showcase her own sound in her own words.
The first song from her 2022 project is called “Salt”, which shows exactly what Corinne wants to say as an artist to new listeners. Inspired by the…end of a relationship (getting dumped), but not the part of the relationship where you are heartbroken. The catchy, tongue-in-cheek tune is about the moment where you realize that person wasn’t the one for you anyway. It’s simply like looking at a margarita: the tequila is the most important part, followed by whatever you are mixing it with to make it taste a little bit less like tequila. What part was not mentioned? The salt! Sure it is nice to have around, but you won’t die without it! Just like you won’t die without this person – they weren’t THE ONE!
Bringing back the sound of a more traditional country music, Corinne’s debut single has just the right amount of sass to be the perfect pick-me-up after a break-up. Corinne wants everyone to sing this song in their car with the windows down on a particularly good day. With a mix of vulnerability and tongue-in-cheek humor, Corinne wants listeners to feel as though they have gotten a look at exactly what is going on in her mind – whether that be thoughtful, chaotic, humorous, or angry.
Maddie has brought the SALT to as many local bars humanly possible, and is excited to be returning for a second year as a performer at Harmoniafest, an all woman music festival created by CMAO-nominee, Nicole Rayy. Corinne thrives in smaller intimate settings as well, especially writer’s rounds where she can talk all about being dumped in front of crowds of people. She has frequented Country Nights in the City hosted by Dave Woods, and All Woman hosted by Nicole Rayy.
