SJHL Exhibition   ( 9/8/2010 )

There were 4 exhibition games in the SJHL last night.

The Melfort Mustangs hammered the Nipawin Hawks 9-2 as both teams move to 1-1 in the pre-season.

The Humboldt Broncos played their first game of the exhibition and outscored the Battlefords North Stars 8-5.

The North Stars drop to 0-2.

SJHL Teams Up With Access Again   ( 9/8/2010 )

Live SJHL hockey from the comfort of your own home.

The league annouced that ACCESS Cable will broadcast 7 SJHL games live this season as well as 17 taped games for SJHL fans.

League President Laury Ryan says its a big step for the SJHL in broadcasting.

The First live game will September 16th when the Estevan Bruins tangle with the Melville Millionaires.


Mustangs Barbecue   ( 9/8/2010 )

The Melfort Mustangs will be having a Meet & Greet barbecue on Monday.

It takes place at the Palace from 11:30 to 1:30.

The Mustang coaches and players will be there to talk to the general public.

It's $5 dollars for a burger and pop.


Tri-Town Thunder Camp   ( 9/8/2010 )

A big weekend for Junior B Hockey.

The Tri Town Thunder will look to have another stellar season after going 39-3 in the regular season and winning the PJHL championship.

But before they can do that there's a little thing called training camp to go through.

Thunder Coach Leo LeBlanc gives the details on when Thunder Camp starts.

The Thunder will have at least 35 players at camp with 10 players returning this year.


Huskies Play Friday   ( 9/8/2010 )

The University of Saskatchewan Huskies football team will try to go to 2-0 as Week 2 of the Canada West season starts on Friday.

The 0-1 UBC Thunderbirds come to Saskatoon Friday for a 7:00 start.

Your Game Day station CK750 will broadcast that game starting at 6:30 with the pre-game show.


Riders Play Sunday   ( 9/8/2010 )

The Saskatchewan Roughriders practice at 11:00 this morning at Mosaic Stadium as they continue to prepare for the Banjo Bowl this weekend.

The Riders put their 6-3 record on the line when they play the 2-7 Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Sunday.

The Green & White are coming off a 27-24 victory over the Bombers last Sunday in Regina.

Kickoff is slated for 11 AM Saskatchewan time.


Kelly Bates Traded   ( 9/8/2010 )

Former University of Saskatchewan Huskie offensive lineman Kelly Bates is on the move again.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders dealt him to the struggling Edmonton Eskimos for a selection in the 2014 CFL draft.

The Humboldt native has spent the first half of the season on the 9-game injured list.

Bates was originally drafted in the 4th round, 32nd overall in 2001 by BC.

He has also played with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.


Rider Stadium   ( 9/8/2010 )

The Saskatchewan government says it has arranged to buy land in Regina from Canadian Pacific Railway but only if the new stadium project goes ahead.

The minister responsible for the stadium proposal, Ken Cheveldayoff, says the province has reached a conditional sale agreement with C-P.

However, he says it doesn't mean a decision has been made to proceed with the multi-purpose entertainment facility.

If there's no stadium, the province won't buy the land.

In addition to being a new home for the Saskatchewan Roughriders football team, the facility would host rock concerts and other entertainment events.

The Toronto Blue Jays used the long ball to beat Texas for a 7th straight time.

Vernon Wells went deep twice and John Buck and Adam Lind also homered as the Jays topped the Rangers 8-5.

Wells ended the night 3 for 3 with a walk, 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored.

Shaun Marcum fanned 9 over 7 innings for his 12th win of the season.

Elsewhere in the A-L, Baltimore denied C-C Sabathia his 20th victory with a 6-2 win over the Yankees.

Tampa Bay moved within a game and a half of East-leading New York by routing Boston 14-5.
