Independent Review Of Potash Resources   ( 9/2/2010 )

An independent review on the proposed takeover of PotashCorp.
The province has announced The Conference Board of Canada will review the potential takeover and report back on the risks and opportunities it would present.

We'll learn what is in the report September 30th.

The province will use that report as a basis for their submissions to Industry Canada.


NESD Enrollment Drops   ( 9/2/2010 )

A decline in student enrollment for the Norh East School Division.

Director of Education Don Rempel says the school board expected a loss of 105 students, but after the first day of classes they were down 152 students.

He says in past years, students have registered after the Labour Day weekend and he is expecting this year to be no different.


New Laser In Kelsey Trail Health Region   ( 9/2/2010 )

A new tool in the Kelsey Trail Health Region's fight against cataracts.

The Nipawin Region Health Foundation has raised 32 thousand dollars to buy a YAG laser.

Dr. Adam FitzPatrick of the Nipawin Vision Centre is donating the office space for the procedure.

Foundation Executive Director Lewis Robin says patients currently have to drive to PA or Saskatoon for the laser portion of their cataract surgery.

A ribbon cutting ceremony for the machine will be held at the vision centre tomorrow afternoon at 1:30.


Camp Tamarack Vandals ID'd   ( 9/2/2010 )

The culprits behind the damage done to Camp Tamarack have been identified.
Prince Albert RCMP say eight youths, aged 8 through 10 from the Wahpeton Dakota First Nation were responsible for the vandalism.

Police say the youth have taken full responsibility for their actions, with the support of their parents and the band authorities.

Band and camp authorities will organize meetings to help the children learn that their actions took away from underpriviledged kids.

RCMP say they hope to bring back some sense of community during the process.


Fatal Crash Near Hague   ( 9/2/2010 )

One person has been killed in a two-vehicle collision north of Hague.

R-C-M-P say the crash happened late Wednesday afternoon on Highway 11.

The victim's name has not been released and there's no word on how many other people may have been injured.

Police closed the highway during their accident investigation.
