My Special Guest is Pete Wheeler of the Durham County Band.
After bursting onto the Canadian country music scene in early 2018, the Durham County Band has been steadily making a name for themselves. Comprised of Pete Wheeler, James Downham, Kip Walker, and Bronson Brown, this band of song-writers and performers marries memorable melodies with beautiful harmonies and signature guitar licks. Their music has been described as Southern country rock stirred with classic country elements.
Following the release of their first single, “Back Roads,” the band set off on a radio tour of Ontario to promote themselves and their music. They performed live on the air at a number of stations and at the Stratford Music Festival, alongside the Mudmen and Dayna Manning. Seeing their first single crack the Canadian Country charts was a significant accomplishment for the band.
Now, after recently finishing their debut EP in the studio, the Durham County Band have released “Don’t Turn Away,” their second single.
Pete will tell us about the band, the new tune, the influence of Roy Clark and lots more.
